Lloyds bank and the Environment Agency took part in Give and Gain Day 2015 by volunteering at Hannahs at Seale-Hayne.
The Lloyds Bank Commercial Team for South West and the team from the Environment Agency HQ in Exeter had a busy day working in different areas of Seale-Hayne. The groups had plenty of gardening work such as preparing vegetable beds, digging trenches and clearing paths and walls as well as painting rooms in the Health and Wellbeing Centre and accommodation.
Now in its seventh year, thousands of people from hundreds of companies volunteer on Give and Gain Day each year. This was the biggest year yet, with over 15,500 business volunteers giving over 109,000 hours volunteering time, worth well over £1.9 million, helping hundreds of thousands of people across UK communities.
Companies of all shapes and sizes already support their community through volunteering. They help young people and vulnerable groups, budding entrepreneurs, charities and community organisations, to problem solve, develop skills, build confidence, maintain and expand their services. Give and Gain Day is an opportunity for Business in the Community, businesses, community organisations and schools to celebrate what business volunteers can achieve.
Hannahs Fundraising Manager, Emily Severn, said “At Hannahs we rely on the support and generosity of the local community and local businesses to help us achieve our mission to make disability incidental. A huge thank you to the Lloyds bank and Environment Agency teams for taking part in Give and Gain and volunteering at Hannahs. It was a fantastic day with true community spirit and all at Hannahs are incredibly grateful.”
