Everyone at Hannahs is celebrating the “Good” report received from Ofsted recently. The inspection was carried out in Hannah Avenue children’s home where children and young people receive excellent quality, nurturing and highly supportive individual care from a motivated and dedicated care and nursing team.
Ofsted recognised that celebrating young people’s identity is at the heart of the home. The children and young people express choice and their views are always sought as they are provided with experiences that are meaningful to the individual and may be difficult to find elsewhere.
Visual evidence of children and young people’s events and achievements such as attending the school prom are proudly displayed within the home. The activities contribute to the emotional well-being of children and young people and their achievements and progress exceed parents’ and social workers’ expectations. One parent commented “I am so impressed; they have helped and changed our lives for the better”.
Emma McVinnie, who recently received her registration as Registered Manager of Hannah Avenue children’s home, said “I am extremely proud to be part of such a dedicated team.” New staff have expressed that they immediately feel part of a supportive team and that the induction programme is very comprehensive. External professionals have commented on the positive relationships that they have with all staff and the manager.
Hannahs Chief Executive, Bronwen Hewitt, said “This is testament to our team who have shown amazing resilience, always with the children at the heart of everything they do. Hannahs is a very special charity working with very individual children and their families, all of whom face enormous difficulties on a daily basis. We have exciting plans to add to our services at Ivybridge so watch this space!”
Executive Lead at Hannahs Ivybridge, Izzy Guest, said “The level of love and care never wavers and the dedication of all the nurses and care staff is humbling. The team are in tune with the needs of each child and young person. They pride themselves on their holistic person-centred approach and are constantly striving to meet the children’s and young people’s wishes, desires, dreams and hopes.”
