Hundreds of families came to Hannahs at Seale-Hayne last weekend to celebrate Harry Potter’s Birthday. Witches and wizards enjoyed a day of bouncy castles, party games, storytelling and picnics.
Guests of all ages dressed up in magical costumes and many entered the Harry Potter lookalike competition which was won by Christian de Sousa. Torbay Owls were there with a selection of their owls while storyteller Gary Cordingley told wonderful stories both in the Old Library as well as all around the grounds on his Story Walk. There were miniature train rides all day thanks to Plymouth Miniature Steam and games included a treasure hunt and Which Hermione?.
Children spent hours in the sunshine on the bouncy castles and inflatables as well as playing Quidditch and Chess and exploring the Dragon’s Maze. Special Harry Potter picnic boxes and butter beer ice cream proved very popular and welcome refreshment amidst all the activities.
Nicola Moorhouse, Hannahs Communications Manager said “We were delighted that so many people turned out to help us celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday as part of our Summer of Magic at Seale-Hayne. From our wonderful ‘Illustrating Harry Potter’ exhibition to games in the quad and fun in the maze everyone got into the spirit of the event and in turn helped us to raise vital funds for the charity. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us”.
