Young adults from Hannahwood took to the seas recently. Thanks to Horizons Children’s Sailing Charity and their wheelchair accessible boat, several groups from Hannahwood have been on sailing trips along the Plymouth coast this summer.
Bex Marshall from Hannahwood said “The Horizons staff were all very friendly and gave a talk on the surrounding forts, tankers and dockyard. On their travels our youngsters saw some wonderful fish, jelly fish, Navy boats, fishermen, sailors, marine training boats, submarines and they also enjoyed a spot of fishing along the way. The highlight for most of them was actually being able to steer the boat themselves with specially adapted equipment including switches and a raised platform to enable them to reach the steering wheel. Everyone had a brilliant time!”
