Our mission

Potential to achievement; within a quality provision where young people and their families matter.

A message from Chris Freestone, Head Teacher

Welcome to Hannah’s School at Ivybridge, where we are committed to providing high quality education to children and young people who have physical difficulties and a wide range of associated learning difficulties via an integrated, sensory process of individual learning and development.

This year we are very pleased to be able to commence a special needs nursery class for children from the age of three years which has both early learning and speech and language therapy at its’ heart. You can download a copy of the brochure here

The education team and Governors / Trustees have a passionate belief in ensuring that within a holistic model of education and support young people are able to engage with learning, social life, activities, leisure time and their family and friends in a meaningful, positive and most importantly an enjoyable way.

There is a very strong commitment to each young person, each of whom is at the centre of what we set out to do. This model is supported by the input of a range of professionals such as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nurses. Ofsted commented in November 2016 that “the quality of teaching ,learning and assessment is good. The strong sense of community within the school results in a staff team that works closely together to enable pupils to develop their skills well.”.

We aim to enable students to access education to the maximum and therapies, particularly speech and language therapy, underpin this.
“Pupils’ health and well being is a priority for school. Pupils are very well cared for . The work of the therapy and medical teams is effectively entwined within pupils’ education so that their learning targets are promoted well in activities.” Ofsted November 2016.

Visitors to the school remark upon the lovely atmosphere which is apparent from the moment you enter.

I would like to extend to you a very warm Hannah’s School welcome. If you would like to pay us a visit simply make contact with myself or the Administrator, in order to ensure that the relevant people are available to see you and to answer any of your questions.
