Alex becomes manager of our new shop in Plympton

Our new shop has opened on the Ridgeway in Plympton and Alex Miller is manager. She has a lot of experience working in charity shops having worked at the Dame Hannahs shop in South Brent, as well as Woodside shop in Plympton and Cancer Research UK and Children’s Hospice South West shops in Plymouth.

Alex has always worked part-time in the shops as she also works as a mobile hairdresser. She was brought up in Shaugh Prior and then lived in Plymouth for many years before moving to Plympton in 1989. She lives with her partner Rob and she has two grown up children who live away from home. Her main hobbies are horse riding on Dartmoor, visiting antiques fairs and shops as well as cooking and gardening.

“I have always enjoyed raising money for charity and Dame Hannahs is so special. I went to Ivybridge College so I knew about Dame Hannahs as a child. The first charity shop I ever went into was the Dame Hannahs shop in Ivybridge and I bought many of my favourite outfits there.
I see so many wonderful things coming into the shop and I want to show them off and find the right buyers. I enjoy getting to know the regulars and getting to know what people want to buy and sometimes I put things aside for them. I enjoy laying out the stock and one item can inspire me to create a themed area in the shop. I feel very proud of the new shop in Plympton and it has been lovely to welcome so many new customers in the first few weeks.”

The shop opening hours are:
Monday - Saturday 9.30am - 4.30pm
