Lucy

Lucy is 24 years old and has a rare chromosome deletion and duplication as well as epilepsy, diabetes, multi-sensory impairment. She joined Dame Hannahs in December 2024 and lives in Hannahwood Mews.

Before starting at Dame Hannahs she attended Woodlands Special School and then had respite breaks at Rockville Short Breaks in Plymstock 2-3 days a week. Lucy’s parents first heard about Dame Hannahs when she was a toddler. Her nursery teacher was married to the head teacher of Dame Hannahs School. Later Lucy became a regular user of our hydrotherapy pool with her family and friends.

Lucy’s mum Clare said “It's lovely to see Lucy interacting and socialising with her peers and she appears to be enjoying regular swimming. She also loves music, sensory lights and going for long walks in windy weather! She has an incredible smile and giggle and already has lots of friends in the Mews including her key worker who is also called Lucy! With Lucy happily settled at Dame Hannahs it has enabled us to start doing things we haven't been able to do in more than a decade including having a holiday together!”
