Sarah Penny

Sarah joined Dame Hannahs as a Therapy Support Assistant in January 2024 having heard about the job through social media.

Before she started at Dame Hannahs Sarah worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Derriford Hospital. She was part of the Trauma and Orthopaedics team supporting occupational therapists with their caseload on multiple wards. Prior to that job she qualified as a teacher completing her BEd Primary Education (SEND Specialism) degree in 2022. She worked in various special schools with primary and secondary aged children with varying needs, and also as a Camp counsellor at a SEND summer camp in Pennsylvania, USA.

Sarah said “During my first few weeks I have really enjoyed getting to know and working with some amazing young adults. Every day is unique - we face different challenges and manage to overcome them together. I enjoy facilitating the various therapeutic plans that we offer including hydrotherapy, life skills sessions and rebound therapy. I am beginning to form relationships with both the young adults and staff who have been really welcoming and helpful.”
