Dame Hannahs knits for Barnardo's

Monday 10 June 2019

Staff and young adults in Hannahwood presented a wonderful collection of hand knitted gifts and blankets to representatives from Barnardo’s Children’s Centres in Plymouth this week.

Tracy Hammacott, team leader in Gilleys Bungalow, led the Big Knit project, having been keen on knitting since she was a child. She and her colleagues have knitted some adorable dolls and animals as well as some beautiful blankets.

Kate Johnson and Jayne Lewis from Barnardo’s Children’s Centres in Plymouth said “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Dame Hannahs for all their hard work and for thinking of us. We will make sure that all the knitted gifts go to really good homes”.

Bex Marshall from Hannahwood said “We are delighted to be handing over so many lovely knitted gifts to Barnardo’s. As a charity we are always keen to support other local charities and to give back to the community in some way. I researched a few local charities who would benefit from the knitted gifts and our community projects group then chose Barnardo’s and Trevi House”.
