Student police officer Jason Hawkes recently spent a week at Dame Hannahs as part of his training and Community Engagement Placement.

Jason enjoyed spending time with the students, staff and therapies teams and learning all about their work and life at Dame Hannahs. He got involved in a range of activities from baking to hydrotherapy.

Jason is a student officer at Middlemoor Police Training College in Exeter. He lives in Loddeswell and is involved in the local Ivybridge Community including his role as a karate instructor. Living near Ivybridge Jason has always been aware of Dame Hannahs.

Jason said “My time at Dame Hannahs has been really beneficial and it has opened my eyes to a whole new world. I knew about the charity but didn’t fully understand what they did. I now have a greater understanding of individuals and their vulnerability and dynamic needs. It is a brilliant place and so interesting for me to have an insight into their day to day lives and to see how the staff tend to their individual needs and keep their lives engaging and fun”.
