Rosy raises over £4000 for Dame Hannahs

Dame Hannahs supporter Rosy Holland visited us recently to present an extremely generous cheque to the staff and young people. During the year she has raised an amazing £4214.38 for Dame Hannahs.

Having organised a number of fundraising events to celebrate her 70th birthday earlier in the year, Rosy thoroughly enjoyed her visit to Dame Hannahs and meeting the young people. Funds raised by Rosy have been spent on much needed equipment such as a sensory table and sensory garden items as well as refurbishment of the Children’s Home lounge and Hannahwood Mews nursing station.

Rosy is a member of several groups who have all helped her raise money for Dame Hannahs including her Taiko Drumming group, Teignmouth Methodist Church, walking and singalong groups as well as some families from Trinity Prep School where she worked for 20 years. She also teamed up with seven other 70 year-old friends for a ‘7 at 70’ fundraising event at Teignmouth Rugby Club.

Rosy said “Having been round Dame Hannahs and seen where my money has directly gone makes a big difference. It is wonderful that everyone really appreciates the equipment and refurbishment. It has done my heart good. It has made me more aware of the incredible work of Dame Hannahs – everyone goes the extra mile”.

Dame Hannahs Community Engagement Officer, Debbie Lumsdon, said “We are so incredibly grateful to Rosy for all her amazing fundraising efforts to celebrate her 70th birthday. She really is such an inspirational lady. Thank you Rosy for your extremely generous donation”.
