Our schoolchildren plant Woodland Trust trees

Staff and children at Dame Hannah Rogers School planted 30 trees recently as part of the Woodland Trust tree planting initiative.

Senior Teacher Alison Gill said “Our young people have been planting trees donated by the Woodland Trust as part of a nationwide tree planting initiative. We have been given 30 saplings, a mixture of silver birch, rowan and wild cherry, to plant in the school grounds. Each young person has their own tree and will be supported in its care. They have been making name discs so their own tree can be identified”.

The Woodland Trust has been giving trees to schools and communities and encouraging as much tree planting as possible. Planting a single tree has benefits for people, wildlife and the environment. For schools, communities and neighbourhoods, trees make their surroundings happier, healthier places to be. The Trust wants to make sure everybody in the UK has the chance to plant a tree and that is why they are giving away hundreds of thousands of trees to schools and communities.
