Hundreds of Visitors enjoy WW1 Weekend at Seale-Hayne

Last weekend hundreds of visitors joined in the History in Action Weekend as part of a WW1 weekend at Hannahs at Seale-Hayne. The event was to commemorate the centenary of the opening of the Seale-Hayne Military Hospital during the First World War.
This was an action-packed weekend with a variety of WW1 re-enactments when visitors were able to experience living history and get a taste of life on the Front Line. The Quad at Seale-Hayne was transformed into a WW1 Front Line camp. A dedicated group of re-enactors dressed up as soldiers and nurses and demonstrated skills and equipment used on the Front Line. They created a mock trench, complete with sandbags, guns and barbed wire, a mock first aid post, kitchen and living area.
Hannahs Head of Marketing, Rebecca Bowen-Keay, said “It was great to see so many visitors enjoying our WW1 weekend. I would like to thank Mike Ford and his team of volunteers who transformed the Quad into a truly authentic WW1 camp which looked amazing. You really got a taste of how life was on the Front Line. Altogether it was a simply marvellous weekend. It’s not often that the phrase “If these walls could talk” becomes a reality but last weekend thanks to the hard work of a dedicated team Seale-Hayne had a voice”.
