Access All Aerials celebrates success at Seale-Hayne

Access All Aerials, the radio station based at Hannahs at Seale-Hayne, is going from strength to strength with a record number of listeners and DJs presenting shows each week. The station is run by a group of people with a range of disabilities whose motto is “Breaking Broadcasting Boundaries”.

Access All Aerials has now had over 200,000 plays and has nearly 1,500 followers. In the last month they have had the most listeners from Singapore, Thailand, US and Canada as well as the UK and other countries closer to home such as Portugal, Russia, Germany and the Czech Republic. The shows are broadcast six days a week and are either listened to live and downloaded.

Founder member and DJ Rowan Ford has just hosted his 100th show while the young adults from Hannahwood in Ivybridge have just completed their 50th show. There are now over 60 DJs and 29 shows a week. They have also had the opportunity to interview and meet some high profile visitors such as Dev Patel from Radio 1 and Simon Hall from BBC Spotlight.

The studio has recently been equipped with new state of the art technology which has enabled the DJs to develop new broadcasting techniques. They are also now able to broadcast from their homes via Skype. The steering group which runs AAA is comprised of Hannahs volunteers, guests and staff and is supported by Simply Great Media.

On April 28th the AAA team is organising a fundraising activity in the Quad at Seale-Hayne. They will also be supporting World Rocks against Dementia on March 24th.
