Good News for Children's Home and Adult Services at Ivybridge

Thursday 28 September 2017

Recently both our Children’s Home and Adult Services at Hannahs Ivybridge underwent inspections and we were delighted with the results which were all ‘Good’ with one ‘Outstanding’.

Hannahs Children’s Home, known as Hannahs Avenue, which provides long-term care and accommodation, extended stays and short-break care for up to 15 children and young people, recently received an inspection from Ofsted and was awarded ‘Good’ for the overall experiences and progress of children and young people.

Highlights of the report were that staff consult well with the young people and provide them with good opportunities to contribute to the running of, and making decisions about, the home. They are good at making each young persons’ day fun and enjoyable and ensure that they have good opportunities to take part in a variety of activities and that they make good progress. One representative from a placing authority said the manager and her team “have been fantastic with their support for young people and their families” and she “feels confident in their service as a safe and positive health provision for the most complex youngsters”.
Adult Services underwent three inspections from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Hannahwood Mews received ‘Good’ in all key areas, Arthur Care Home was given a focused inspection in the key area of safe and was rated ‘Good’ in all areas and Hannahwood Transitions was given a ‘Good’ with an ‘Outstanding’ in care.

All three facilities cater for young adults with physical disabilities and associated sensory, communication and learning difficulties. Hannahwood Mews is an adapted nursing unit, Arthur Care Home is a specifically adapted bungalow based in the centre of Ivybridge for young adults who can enjoy just that little bit more independent living and Hannahwood Transitions comprises five residential bungalows. In addition to the residential bungalows, Transitions also offers a respite service, enabling individuals to have a secure and supportive environment away from home, as little or as often as is needed.
