Join Beverley on Sahara Trek in aid of Dame Hannahs

Do you have a bucket list, big birthday or just love adventure? Sign up to Dame Hannahs’ biggest challenge yet. The Sahara Trek takes place 16-23 February 2020 and will be a life-changing experience.

Rediscover true adventure in the awe-inspiring Sahara Desert. This five day trek covers 100km passing through Morocco’s forbidding landscape punctuated by peaks, gorges, dunes and oases. At night, sleep under Africa’s star strewn skies and enjoy traditional Berber hospitality.

Beverley Wilson, therapy assistant at Dame Hannahs, has already signed up and is busy fundraising to help fund her place on the expedition. Beverley moved to Ivybridge 12 years ago to be near her mother and has worked for Dame Hannahs for over 8 years. Having worked in care and helped out in the therapies department, she now works as therapy assistant in the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Outreach team.

As Beverley has opted to self-fund her trip she is organising at least one fundraising event a month. Having already run a successful fashion show, she is planning a variety of events including pub quizzes, coffee mornings and beauty evenings.

Beverley said “I noticed the trek because the last day falls on my late mum’s birthday (21st Feb). I lost her a week after her birthday and so February has been a difficult month for me for the past 8 years. Doing this fundraising trek has helped me to turn this sad feeling into something more positive. As well as raising funds for the Sahara Trek, I also wanted to organise events that could include our young people as much as possible and to raise funds for items that will enhance their lives”.

The costs of the challenge there are two options which you can choose from for this challenge:
Self-funder: Pay a registration of £195 when you book, then pay a further balance of £1250 no later than 8 weeks prior to your challenge. By choosing this option, we ask you to raise as much as you can. As you have covered the full cost of the challenge, 100% of fundraising will come to The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust.
Sponsorship opportunity: Pay a registration fee of £195 when you book. With this option you must raise a minimum of £2600 for The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust.
