Tugboats and Dolphins raise over £12,300
Thursday 06 November 2025
Tugboats and Dolphins CIC, a group of fundraisers, have raised an amazing £12,300 for Dame Hannahs. They have been fundraising for the charity and taking on new challenges throughout the year. Last week the group visited Dame Hannahs to present their very generous cheque to the residents and staff who turned out in force to show their huge gratitude.
Earlier in the year three members of the group completed a massive cycling challenge. The fundraisers had no previous experience of cycling long distances and took on a 1000-mile bike ride from Ivybridge in Devon to Santander in Spain over 10 days. Other members of the group took on a variety of challenges including the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge as well as other cycling challenges and ice baths. The finale of their fundraising campaign was a Fight Night at Boringdon Park Golf Club. A group of beginners signed up to a 10-week training programme in boxing culminating in the Fight Night which was a Black Tie dinner and proved very popular.
Tugboats and Dolphins raise funds for charities through extreme physical challenges and this year they decided to fundraise for the much-needed renovation and refurbishment of the Dame Hannahs sensory room, as the charity is close to their hearts. The sensory room is a safe, stimulating space that can dramatically improve the quality of life for the residents at Dame Hannahs.
Dame Hannahs Head of Fundraising, Daniel Burke, said “The dedication and determination of Tugboats and Dolphins to achieve their fundraising goal has been tremendous. They initially set a target of £10,000 to support the renovation and refurbishment of our Sensory Room which at the time we thought was a tough goal to reach but they absolutely smashed it with over £12,300. The works which are planned to take place over the coming months will make such a difference to everyone we support and those who will access the facility. This will not just be a short-term benefit but one which will last for so many people for years to come. We cannot thank them enough for all they have achieved to date and all the work they are planning to do on the refurbishment.”
Mike Dunn from Tugboats and Dolphins said “What a year it has been with Dame Hannahs! We’ve scaled mountains, cycled across countries and hosted charity fight nights but most of all exceeded our fundraising target! We aimed for £10,000 but finished over £12,000 which made all our efforts worthwhile. We’ve taken great pride in knowing we will be responsible for the refurbishment of the sensory at Dame Hannahs, in turn enriching the lives of the residents. We just want to say a final thank you to them for hosting and surprising us with that campaign finale reception … we were blown away by gratitude!”
The fundraising total is still going up and Tugboats and Dolphins will continue to fundraise until the end of the year. If you would like to donate, please visit their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/tugboatsanddolphins
