Endsleigh Garden Centre donates garden tools to Hannahs

Staff and young people from Hannahs Ivybridge visited Endsleigh Garden Centre recently to receive refurbished garden tools from staff there and their charity partner Conservation Foundation.

The tools had been restored by prisoners from Dartmoor Prison as part of the ‘Tools For Change’ scheme, which was launched in 2016 at Wyevale Garden Centres across the country. The scheme has encouraged gardeners to donate their old, broken, or unwanted garden hand tools to their local garden centre. The damaged tools then started their journey to restoration and were distributed by the Conservation Foundation between three UK prisons including Dartmoor.

The ‘Tools for Change’ scheme has successfully reconditioned and rehomed thousands of tools, taught valuable skills to prisoners and saved tonnes of waste. The tools distributed by Endsleigh, a Wyevale Garden Centre, will be used by the young people at Hannahs Ivybridge.

Emma McVinnie, Registered Manager at Hannahs Ivybridge, said: “We are extremely grateful that Wyevale Garden Centres are supporting us in this way. Without the help of our local community we simply could not do the work that we do, caring and supporting many young people and their families every year. We look forward to using the items over the coming weeks at our site in Ivybridge.”
