Country Caper

Please note this event has now been cancelled.

Due to the recent wet weather and potential for more serious weather conditions over the coming days and after discussing it at length with Kitley House, we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel this event. This is due to concerns about the safety and viability of the walk route, car parking field and lawn which we were planning to have the food and outdoor games on.

We appreciate everyone's support in booking this event and hope you will join us in the future for another one. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Ticket refunds will be issued shortly through Eventbrite.

A 4 mile walk in beautiful countryside starting and finishing at Kitley House Hotel. The day will include lawn games for the kids (and big kids!) PLUS a goody bag of snacks to keep you going on your walk and hot drink and food upon you return. This is a great opportunity to walk around a lovely private estate which is not normally open to the public.

The funds raised will enable us to provide the best possible environment for children and adults with complex disabilities, through care education and supported living, enabling them to feel empowered and live life to their full potential every day.

FAQs

Can I register on the day?

Yes – subject to the event not being sold out you can sign up on the day. Cost will be £10 per child and £15 per adult or £35 per family (2+2).
Country Caper - Registration before the day (via online or calling into the fundraising office – 01752 898135) will close on Wednesday 25th September 2019 however you will be able to sign up on the day within the Event Area (see below).

Can I get food and drink at the event?

You will be given water, fruit and a cereal bar prior to the walk and once the walk has been completed you will of course receive your free lunch and hot drink.

What is the terrain like?

The walk is a mixture of terrains. We wouldn`t recommend the routes as suitable for buggies. It is narrow in places where single file walking is required.

How long will the walk take?

The walk should take no more than 2 hours at an average pace.

What happens if I cannot finish the walk?

If you cannot finish the walk and feel you might need to stop, you may pull out at any point. Please tell your nearest volunteer marshal who will be able to assist you. If you need to pull out please notify us so that we know that you are safe.

Will it be safe?

Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on, fully charged and with plenty of credit on it. The route for Country Caper will be marshalled and signed.

Will there be first aid facilities?

We will have first aiders available at Kitley House Hotel and out on the route of the walk.

Will there be toilets on the route?

Toilet facilities will be available at the start and the end of the route only.

What should I wear?

We recommend that you wear comfortable walking boots. Blisters are not fun for anyone. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in, they are well-worn in. Comfortable bottoms to walk in are also important; shorts, leggings or trousers. Whatever you prefer.

Can we walk as a group?

Yes. Absolutely. When registering as a group each participant needs to fill in their own form. Tell us your team name and let us know how you have raised money in a group.

What time can I arrive?

Registration for Country Caper will be open and we will be all set and ready to welcome you from 10am.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes of course, all man`s best friends are very welcome, but please do keep them on their leads.

Do I need to raise a certain amount of money?

Your entry fee covers the cost of the event. Therefore any funds you can raise or donate over and above your entry fee is greatly appreciated. If you would rather make a donation instead of raising sponsorship, there is an option to donate upon registering or you can call the team (01752 898135) and donate at any time!

Your welcome pack will include a sponsorship form and we would encourage everyone to set up an online fundraising page by clicking here.

Within the Welcome Pack and in the lead up to the event we will be giving you lots of alternative fundraising hints and tip suggestions to help you make a difference.

Can I Gift Aid my sponsorship?

You can ask each person who sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by them ticking the gift aid box on the sponsorship form. Any personal donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Please make sure your sponsors fill in their own name and full home address (not their work address) including postcode, otherwise we are unable to claim Gift Aid.

Can I hand in my sponsorship money on the day?

Yes please! You can bring your sponsorship money with you on the day to hand in before the walk. Cheques should be made payable to Dame Hannah Rogers Trust please. This is the easiest way of handing in your sponsorship money or if you would prefer not to handle any money at all you can choose to set up an online page by clicking here. Any money you raise through an online fundraising page is paid directly and conveniently paid to Dame Hannahs.

How old do I need to be?
